Winter Skin Comfort: How to Keep Your Glow Through the Cooler Months

As the weather turns cooler, we often start to feel the effects on our skin. The heaters and air conditioning go into overdrive, humidity disappears, and suddenly the skin starts to feel tight, itchy, and dry. The first signs usually show up as flakiness — on the face, body, or both — and with that comes discomfort, dullness, and irritation.

The number one request we get from our clients? Glow. And if there’s one thing that steals glow, it’s dehydration.

So here are our favourite tips to help you comfort and protect your skin through winter — and keep that glow going strong:

Winter Skin Survival Tips

1. Skip the Steaming Hot Showers

We know — it’s tempting. But super-hot water strips the skin of natural oils, leaving it vulnerable. Stick to warm (not hot) showers and moisturise straight after while skin is still slightly damp.

2. Layer Up Your Skincare (Not Just Your Clothes!)

We layer jumpers and jackets — but your skin needs layering too. In the cooler months, build a skincare routine that acts like a barrier against the elements. Use hydrating serums, nourishing moisturisers, a protective balm (especially on sensitive areas), and always finish with SPF during the day.

3. Don’t Get Tricked Into Over-Exfoliating

It’s tempting to scrub away dry, flaky skin — but over-exfoliation can make things worse. Instead, reduce how often you exfoliate and focus more on replenishing and nourishing skincare products.

4. Switch to a gentler cleanser

If your face feels tight or sensitive after cleansing, it might be time to swap to a cream cleanser. These formulas cleanse without stripping your skin’s natural oils — a must in drier months.

5. Prioritise Hydrating and Nourishing Skincare

Boost your skincare routine with a hydrating serum, restoring beauty oil and an updated winter edition nourishing moisturiser to seal in moisture, calming irritation, and restoring that winter glow.

6. Don’t Forget the Body

While we’re all about the face, the body needs some love, too. Winter is a beautiful time to enjoy a warm bath, followed by a gentle body exfoliation (think soft mitts or scrubs with fine grains), and then sealing everything in with a rich body cream or oil while skin is still damp.

7. Keep Up Your Professional Skin Treatments

The cozy electric blankets are on & have the treatment beds warm for you. The ideal opportunity to relax, deeply hydrate your skin, and proactively tackle any specific skin concerns you might have. Along with a dedicated moment to take time out and drop into your zen.
